Licence and terms of use

Last updated October 16, 2026. These terms are written in plain English and have not been reviewed by a lawyer. They will be updated before or after review; the version in force is the one on this page when you buy.

These terms cover the products sold by The Monday Filer: the nine roll-forward Excel workpaper templates, the playbook (The First-Year SEC Reporting Manager's Playbook), and any updates to them (together, the "products"). They also cover the free First 90 Days checklist and this website. By buying, downloading or using a product, you agree to these terms. "You" means the person who buys and, where you buy for your job, the employer or company you buy for.

1. Who you are buying from

Orders are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy is the seller on your receipt: it takes payment, charges and remits any sales tax or VAT, issues invoices and processes refunds. Lemon Squeezy's own buyer terms also apply to the purchase. The licence below is granted by The Monday Filer.

2. What you get

Templates – $69: nine Excel workbooks (.xlsx), white-label, no macros, delivered as a zip file.
Templates + Playbook – $89: the templates plus the playbook (PDF).
Playbook only – $24: the playbook (PDF).

Prices are in USD; tax may be added at checkout. All products are digital downloads. Nothing is shipped. You get a download link on the checkout confirmation page and by email from Lemon Squeezy. Please save your files somewhere safe; if you lose access, email us and we will resend the link.

3. Free updates

Buyers get updates to the products they bought at no extra cost, for as long as we publish them. That includes corrections, rule-change updates and, for template buyers, new workbooks added to the template set. We will tell you by email when an update is ready and deliver it the same way as your original purchase. We aim to keep the products current, but we do not promise any particular update, schedule or feature.

4. Your licence: what you can do

When you buy, you get a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual licence to use the products inside your employer or company (the organisation you bought for, including its subsidiaries). Within that organisation you may:

use the templates for as many periods, filings and entities as you like;
modify, rebrand, rename and adapt them, including adding your company name, logo and your own formats;
share the templates, and copies you have filled in or changed, with your internal team and colleagues who work on financial reporting;
share filled-in or modified workpapers with your external auditors, and with your legal counsel and other advisers working on your company's reporting, as part of normal reporting, audit and review work;
keep copies in your company's systems, binders and archives, including after the person who bought them leaves.

The playbook is licensed for reading and internal reference by the buyer and their team. You may print it and quote short extracts in internal documents.

Your completed workpapers and the data you put in them are yours. This licence covers our templates and text, not your company's numbers.

5. What you can't do

Resell, sublicense, rent or give away the templates or the playbook, blank or modified, on their own or as part of another product.
Redistribute them outside your organisation, except to your auditors and advisers as allowed above.
Publish them, or substantial parts of them, on a website, file-sharing service, marketplace, forum, course or public repository.
Use them to make a competing template set, guide or training product.
Remove the copyright notice from the playbook.

Consultants, accounting firms and outsourced providers: each client company you use the templates for needs its own licence, unless we agree otherwise in writing. Email us; we are happy to talk about firm-wide or multi-client licences.

6. Not legal or accounting advice

The products and this website are general educational and working tools based on public SEC rules, forms and staff materials as of the date shown on each product. They are not legal, accounting, audit, tax or investment advice, and using them does not create any advisory or professional relationship. Rules and staff guidance change, and every company's facts are different. Check the current rules and forms and consult your own securities counsel and independent auditors before making any filing or disclosure decision. The Monday Filer is not affiliated with, endorsed by or speaking for the SEC, the PCAOB, the FASB or any company.

7. No warranty

The products are provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that any formula, date, deadline, checklist or example is correct for your company or period. You are responsible for checking every formula, date and output before you rely on it, and for your filings.

8. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, The Monday Filer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of profits, data, filing status, penalties or fines, arising from your use of the products or this website. In any case, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the product concerned. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you; nothing here limits rights you have by law that cannot be excluded.

9. Refunds

If you are not satisfied, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of purchase. You don't need to give a reason. Email us with your order number, or reply to your Lemon Squeezy receipt. Lemon Squeezy processes the refund to your original payment method; how long it takes to appear depends on your bank or card provider. When you get a refund, your licence ends: please delete the files and any copies. Updates delivered after the refund are not included.

10. The free checklist and email list

The First 90 Days checklist is free when you sign up to our email list through beehiiv. You may use and share it within your organisation; the resale and publishing limits in section 5 apply. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. See the Privacy page for how sign-up data is handled.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Changes apply to purchases made after the update; the licence you received when you bought stays in place for that purchase. The date at the top shows the last change.
